Warrnambool forward Sam Cowling out with a hamstring injury

The key forward, who has kicked 14 goals in the first six Hampden league rounds, will miss two to three weeks.

Blues coach Matt O'Brien confirmed the leader, who was hurt in their win against Port Fairy, would remain involved on the bench, starting against Hamilton Kangaroos at Melville Oval on Saturday.

Warrnambool has also lost teenager Mitchell Burgess to NAB League duties.

Forward Jed Turland (ankle) and defender Sam Wilson (coccyx bone) return to the Blues' line-up.

The Kangaroos have added leadership to their side with the experienced Brad Thomas named for his first senior game of the year.

"Brad had a late start to pre-season and has played the last three games in the reserves and he's ready to go," Roos coach Matt Dunn said.

Key forward Darcy Russell and Sam Brewer join Thomas in the Kangas' best 21.

Harry Waters has earned a NAB League debut with Greater Western Victoria Rebels.

Koroit has bolstered its side to face Cobden, bringing three established stars and a debutant. Ben Dobson, Sam Dobson and Jeremy Hausler return from minor injuries while George Serra will make his senior debut.

Saints coach Chris McLaren said Serra had overcome his share of injury setbacks to earn his spot.

"He's done a lot of work the past 18 months to try and play seniors and he always wants to learn," he said.

Serra will fill a small defender-midfielder role for the Saints who lose Jayden Whitehead (knee), Rhys Raymond (foot), Connor Hinkley (NAB League) and Tom Couch (away).

The Bombers have brought in wingman Josh Hickey and midfielder Tom Watson, who have missed the past four rounds with injury.

But they've lost goal-kicker Sam Giblett to a knee injury which is expected to keep him out for six to eight weeks.

Ash Rosolin will also miss after hurting his ankle playing basketball on Monday night.

Terang Mortlake will unveil a debutant against Portland at Hanlon Park, bringing in teenager Jack Lehmann for Jarryd Gardner (omitted).

"He's a Mortlake boy and he had a slow start to the season with cricket commitments," Bloods coach Michael Sargeant said.

"He's a really good left-footer, has a fair bit of class and is hard at it."

The Tigers bring in forward crumbers James Roberts and Jackson Dunlop and defender Damon Huppatz in place of Connor Giddings (NAB League), Daniel Jackson (general soreness) and Tanner Lovell (wrist).

Camperdown welcomes back captain Mitch Danahy (knee) and vice captain Matt Field (hamstring).
