The 17-year-old has been selected to represent Victoria Country against Vic Metro at the MCG in round one of the AFL national under 18 boys championships.
The experience will see Rantall, one of two Greater Western Victoria players chosen, run out ahead of the AFL's round 11 game between Collingwood and Fremantle.
Rebels talent manager Phil Partington said Rantall, who came from an elite junior basketball background, would thrive on the game's greatest stage.
"It's an exciting game because there's a big rivalry between the two sides," Partington said.
"And to be rewarded with a Vic Country jumper is a big achievement and something that should make him, his family and his club very proud."
Rantall has averaged 26.6 disposals, 2.6 marks, four tackles and just under one goal per game this season in the NAB League having played predominantly as an inside midfielder.
"One thing we've noticed with Jay is that he's got a high-performance attitude," Partington said.
"He's very spirited and determined to be the best he can be."
