
UPDATE, Tuesday, 8.50am:
Mystery surrounds the circumstances which led to the death of a 65-year-old Panmure man in a single-vehicle accident near Timboon on Sunday.
Police are still investigating the cause of the rollover about 3.30pm Sunday on the Timboon-Port Campbell Road.
It's unknown if the driver had a medical episode and a report is not expected back from the State Coroner for about a week.
A mechanical inspection will also be carried out on the classic car the man was driving.
VicRoads officials are also expected to inspect the road surface to see if it was a contributing factor, but local police have reported no issues with that section of road in recent times.
Monday: A 65-year-old Panmure man has died following a single-car collision near Timboon on Sunday.
It's believed a classic vehicle travelling on Timboon-Port Campbell Road rolled just before 3.30pm.
The driver and only occupant of the car died at the scene after efforts to revive him failed.
Police said the exact cause of the crash was still under investigation.
It is the first fatality on south-west roads in 2023.
Corangamite Shire Council officials closed the road and it was expected to be closed for some time while police investigations were carried out.
A report will be prepared for the State Coroner.
