A Warrnambool man in his early 50s has been taken to hospital for assessment after he crashed into a power pole while driving along McGregors Road at 2am this morning.

Warrnambool police Sergeant Martin Flannery said the man was transported to hospital as a precaution after the single-vehicle accident.
The man was driving a black Ford Falcon sedan was the collision happened.
The Ford received significant damage and was towed from the accident scene.
The pole also received significant damage and Powercor workers were called and attended.
Sergeant Flannery said police were making inquiries into the cause of the accident which was at this stage unknown.
"Inquiries are pending and we would request anyone with information about the circumstances surrounding the collision to contact the Warrnambool police station of Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
