Police have arrested a man in relation to a spate of burglaries that saw $50,000 worth of items stolen from a Warrnambool home.

A 30-year-old Colac man was arrested after members of the Warrnambool Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a search warrant in the Warrnambool area on Tuesday.
Detective Acting Sergeant Blake Amos, of the Warrnambool Criminal Investigation Unit, said police were able to retrieve a large amount of property believed to be stolen from homes in Riverview Terrace and Hopkins Point Road.
The man is also believed to be involved in a number of burglaries in Geelong.
A Riverview Terrace house was broken into on Friday while the family was at school and work. The offender stole $50,000 worth of jewellery, cash and electrical goods.
Wallets with cash inside them, an iMac computer and mobile phones were also taken.
Detective Acting Sergeant Amos said the owners of the property were ecstatic about retrieving some of their stolen items.
He said the man was assisting police with their inquires and would be charged on Friday afternoon.
The man is expected to appear in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
