It was the second home in the area that was robbed in daylight hours last week after a Hopkins Point Road house was burgled earlier in the week.
Police believe the two break-in may be linked given the timing and location.
The Riverview Terrace house was broken into between 8.45am and 3.45pm on Friday while the family was at school and work.
Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool Criminal Investigation Unit, said the children returned home to find their bedrooms had been turned upside down.
A brand new smart TV and soundbar worth about $5500 was taken along with a large quantity of jewellery, including a diamond ring and necklaces.
Wallets with cash inside them, an iMac computer and mobile phones were also taken.
“It’s a big burglary and concerning that it’s occurred in broad daylight,” Detective Senior Constable Ryan said.
He said despite many of the homes in area having large windows, no one saw they burglar in action.
“Their timing was uncannily lucky,” he said.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan called on people in the area to be aware of their security and look out for their neighbours.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen someone in the area in the past week hanging around or potentially knocking on doors perhaps purporting to sell something.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Warrnambool police or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
