South-west schools that shared in $10 million in state government funding in the April budget received a visit from Education Minister James Merlino on Wednesday.

Mr Merlino visited Portland Primary School, Portland Secondary School, Casterton Secondary College and Portland Bay School to discuss the progress of upgrades.
Portland Bay School received $7 million for a new building and relocation after its old building had been closed due to electrical faults.
Portland Secondary College received $2 million and Casterton Secondary College received $750,000.
“A high-quality education system must be matched by high-quality learning environments where students are engaged, stimulated and encouraged to be creative thinkers,” Mr Merlino said.
