Western Victoria MP Gayle Tierney also announced $3 million for upgrades to Portland Primary School and Portland Secondary College.
Portland Bay School’s campus was set up for 10 students but the school now has more than 40 students.
The money will fund a new building on a larger site.
“Students deserve more than the ageing and outdated facilities we have now,” Ms Tierney said.
“This funding will ensure they have the fantastic learning spaces they deserve.”
Glenelg Shire CEO Greg Burgoyne welcomed the announcement.
“Council is extremely pleased the state government has made this $7 million funding commitment which will ensure a new school can be built on a much larger site, providing for continued growing enrollments,” he said.
“I know that the more than 50 students enrolled at the Bay School will look forward to having additional space to learn and play with other students, in suitably larger classrooms and yard space which will ensure they can thrive and grow.”
