Port Fairy's William Verhoef became the new state champion after coming first in the 15-kilometre road race for under 13 boys on Saturday.

He recorded a time of 28.44 minutes.

Verhoef also won his eight-kilometre time trial on Sunday in 13.43.03 minutes.

Warrnambool's Eddie Worrall also finished first in the under 19s 105km road race.

The under 19s raced within the open men's field so he finished eighth overall.

Worrall got 11^th overall in the time trial and third in under 19s.

Port Fairy's James Verhoef came fourth in the under 15 A grade road race over 35km. Verhoef came seventh in his 10km time trial.

Killarney-based rider Cadel Howie finished fifth in the 63km road race for under 17 A grade.

His coach Kerry King said he raced confidently and aggressively and gave 100 per cent the whole way and really lit up the race.

Howie finished eighth in his 19.6km time trial.

Terang's Darcy Abbott got third in the under 17 B grade road race. He also got third in his 19.6km time trial.

Ned Abbott competed well in the under 11 boys.

The cyclists had put in months of hard work after the event was pushed back three times because of the coronavirus pandemic.
