There's already been rain in Warrnambool this morning and across the region there's a very high (95 per cent) chance of showers, most likely later tonight.
There's also the chance of a thunderstorm.
Winds will be north-westerly 25 to 35 km/h tending northerly 15 to 20 km/h in the evening.
The Bureau of Meteorology also a strong wind warning in place for the west coast.
Daytime maximum temperatures will be around 14 degrees with Warrnambool's likely top about 16.
A north-westerly airstream will continue across Victoria on Thursday, as the low south of the Bight moves slowly eastwards.
A strong cold front will approach from the west during Friday, before crossing the state during Saturday and establishing a cold and unstable west to south-westerly airstream across Victoria.
It's going to colder and wetter.
For Friday the outlook is cloudy with a very high (90 per cent ) chance of showers, with possible hail in the north-west at night.
Snow will fall above 1100 metres. There's also the chance of a thunderstorm in the late morning and afternoon.
Overnight temperatures will fall to around 7 with daytime temperatures reaching around 12.
On Saturday, there' the chance of hail again in the morning.
Snow falling above 700 metres, winds westerly 25 to 35 km/h turning south-westerly during the afternoon.
Overnight temperatures will fall to around 4 with daytime temperatures reaching between 9 and 12.
And we can expect much the same on Sunday with temperatures again about 12 degrees.
