Reinstated Warrnambool City Council chief executive officer Peter Schneider will resume his role next week.
Mr Schneider said he had a conversation with the Mayor Vicki Jellie on Wednesday and they agreed he would be back at work as the CEO on Monday.
"I had a chat with the mayor on Wednesday and Monday will be the day (I resume)," he said.
"I'm looking forward to catching up with Mayor Vicki Jellie and going forward from there," he said.
At 11am: Lawyers are in the process of negotiating costs in the Supreme Court case involving Warrnambool City Council chief executive officer Peter Schneider.
Last Friday Supreme Court Justice Michael McDonald quashed the termination of the former CEO.
He said Mr Schneider was entitled to immediately resume as chief executive officer of the WCC, something that could happen as soon as next Monday.
The justice found the decision by the WCC to terminate Mr Schneider's employment on July 13 last year - in a tight 4-3 vote - was invalid.
Justice McDonald said the decision to terminate was made in breach of rules of natural justice.
A costs hearing was to be listed for late this week, but submissions are understood to have been made and negotiations are under way between lawyers for Mr Schneider and those representing the Warrnambool City Council.
A Supreme Court spokesman said a costs hearing would only be set down for 9.30am Friday if costs could not be agreed to by both parties.
A WCC spokesman said costs were still being negotiated and when known would be made public - if permitted by the Supreme Court.
Legal experts say the negotiated costs could be as high as $100,000, or more.
It is not known if the WCC is fully, partly or not covered by insurance for the Supreme Court action, but the question has been asked of the council.
Mr Schneider was also contacted for comment about when he expected to return to work.
