Portland, Stawell, Warrnambool Wolves and Warrnambool Rangers have fielded teams this season.
Rangers women's coach Paul Braithwaite explained this year's focus had been promoting participation and offering opportunities.
He feels the competition has a positive future ahead.
"The competition is still in its early stages, hopefully over the next few years we can develop it into other areas like Hamilton," he said.
Each team has played a couple of matches on competition days to maximize game-play.
Braithwaite said it had been hard to get players together.
"One of the challenges has been - it is aimed at women in the south-west - and a lot of the women have family commitments and work commitments," he said.
"There's been some days where we've even had to share players.
"The main aim at the moment is just to get a competition to get girls and women playing together."
