Battistello, who is in her second season as open coach, said she was happy how her spine of experienced open netballers paired with emerging talents had worked out.
"It has worked out happily and we got Ally (O'Connor) back so she is our centrecourt elder stateswomen who teaches and mentors and shows our juniors the way to play with just the way she plays herself," she said.
"Then we have our recruit in Annie Blackburn in goals who then is helping Olivia (Marris) with her development and to be ready for open netball.
"Then we have Carly in defence helping our two VNL defenders (Emma Stacey and Ally Mellbolm) so it is purely by chance but it couldn't have worked out better."

Isabella Rea and Meg Kelson are playing alongside O'Connor in the midcourt. Experienced open netballer Annie O'Brien is also part of the midcourt rotation.
Kelson, Marris, Stacey and Rea were part of the Roosters' 17 and under premiership side coached by Battistello and current division one coach Gill Herrmann.
Battistello said Saturday was the best game she had seen Kelson and Rea play. The pair were named among the best alongside star defender Carly Watson.
Marris was another standout shooting 23 goals playing against top defender Emma Cust, who was the Blues' best.
