The two-time reigning South West Cricket Association champions thumped Simpson on Saturday after smashing 260 in its first innings before bowling the Tigers out for 116.
Place was pleased with his side's progress heading into the holiday period with a favourable four wins, three losses and a draw to sit in fifth.
"I'm more happy than I was three weeks ago," he said. "I thought we might have lost a bit of our drive but that hunger seems to be back now.
"Going forward we want more of a narrowed focus and not worrying about what's going to happen at end of the season being just outside the top four.

Before the bye, Pomborneit's highest score was 173. After its scheduled break Place's side has smashed three consecutive 200-plus scores.
"It was another good performance. We were sitting three weeks ago at 3-3 and probably at a bit of a crossroads," Place said.
"I had a bit of think over the bye about us having the same side and what had been going wrong or what was different to the last two seasons.
"I saw that we were leaving too many overs out there. We left about seven or eight in the first six games and you are not going to beat a majority of teams missing out on a consistent 50 or 60 runs.
"We put and emphasis on getting a really solid start and getting to the 25 over mark and then to launch with the emphasis we will be able to catch up and not worry about what we are looking like and stick to that.
"With three consecutive games of over 200 it shows their is proof in the pudding and we are getting back to the form we have shown in the last couple of years."
The Bulls win was set up by Sri Lankan all-rounder Lahiru Fernando, who continued his top form with his first half-century of the season and taking 4-24 off seven overs with the ball.
Place was also amongst his side's highest scorers, making 54 from 33 balls. Opener Steve Murphy (48 from 109) was also handy with the bat.
Ladder-leaders Mortlake also smashed a 200-plus score in their win over Camperdown. Isaac Wareham was the star for the Cats scoring 64 and also taking 3-17 with the ball.
Elsewhere Cobden narrowly defeated Terang by one wicket and Bookar ended Heytsebury Rebels' undefeated run with a nine-wicket victory.
