"Hopefully we can try and work something out and play," he said.
"That's the plan, still go to training and that."
Ewing had always intended to play with Warrnambool this season.
Coach Matt O'Brien said the Blues were hoping to get back on the track on Thursday but may wait until next Tuesday.

Ewing and his young family "miss the lifestyle and the weather" in Darwin.
In 2019, his first season with Warrnambool in more than a decade, he became the first HFNL footballer since ex-Blue Jason Rowan in 2014 to kick 100 goals in a season.
Before then he enjoyed a stellar decade with NEAFL side Northern Territory Thunder, including two premierships.
The prolific goal-kicker isn't sure if he'll continue playing football in Darwin and doesn't want to commit to a club.
"We'll see what happens, I just want to get up there first and get the family settled," he said.
But he added "If I get a bit of an itch, I'll pull the boots on".
O'Brien said Ewing had been a huge asset to the club thus far.
"Obviously we're really disappointed to lose him at the end of year but he's been really up front with us from the word go," he said.
"He's been terrific to work with."
The Blues mentor wants his young forwards and defenders to work with Ewing when competitive work is allowed at training.
Ewing said he loved coming back to play with the Blues for the first time since 2007.
