South Rovers' first and only Warrnambool and District league A grade premiership coach is back in the driver's seat at Walter Oval.
Kylie Carter, the club's 2011 flag-winning coach, has already got to work gaining a couple of handy recruits.
Lena Wright and Merinda Ugle-Hagan, both from East Warrnambool, have signed-on for 2020 and there could be more signatures on the way.
"We've chased pretty hard over the off-season to get some new girls to the club and it's looking all right," Carter said.
Carter was set to be the club's netball coordinator this year but her plans changed.
"After an extensive search, we couldn't find anyone that fitted the bill for what we were looking for," she said.
"So I put my hand up again to take on the role."
The internal appointment is a huge coup for the club after it lost former coach Jess Rohan, midcourter Lisa Pender and goalie Abby Sheehan to Panmure.
Carter, who coached the club's 17 and under side last year, said the Lions had a big focus on developing young players.
"When there's someone away or we need someone for the bench, we always use our under 17 team," she said.
Young gun Zahra Walker, who won the 17 and under league best and fairest in 2019, played A grade matches last year.
Carter said the club was working hard to continue its focus on a family-friendly culture.
"Probably the biggest thing that drew me to South Rovers originally was its family culture," she said.
The premiership-winning coach said she was big on fitness and mental toughness.
"And obviously working together and that we're a team - there's no place for super-heroes," she said.
Carter first coached South Rovers in 2010 and has held the role at different times in the past decade.
She retired from playing for the Lions in 2018. She won the A reserve league best and fairest in 2017 and was league runner-up in 2018.
South Rover's final senior netball try-out is on Tuesday at 6pm at Walter Oval.
