The 43-year-old man appeared briefly in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Tuesday and made no application for bail.
He is charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possessing methamphetamine and possessing proceeds of crime.
Lawyer Sarah Westwood said custody management issues included medication for a mental health condition and physical illness.
She said it was not the man's first time in custody.
The man was remanded in custody until January 6 next year.
He will appear in court again on that day for a committal mention.
Warrnambool police Sergeant Dave McDonald said police officers executed a search warrant at an address in Hamilton's McPhee Street early Monday.
They searched two vehicles in a car port.
There was a magnetic container under the bull bar of one vehicle which contained drug paraphernalia, including zip lock bags and scales.
In the air intake snorkel of a vehicle they found two large zip lock containing 73.5 grams of what is believed to be crystal methamphetamine.
The drugs were in 42 zip lock bags each containing 1.75 grams of ice.
The unemployed man was arrested, interviewed, charged with trafficking methamphetamine and remanded in custody.
Monday: Police will investigate seizing the home of an alleged ice trafficker after Hamilton's biggest ever methamphetamine bust.
Hamilton detectives and uniform police officers executed a search warrant at a McPhee Street property early Monday morning.
They seized 70 grams of ice with a potential street value of more than $35,000 which were split into 42 packages that police will allege were for sale.
Detective Sergeant Mark James, of the Hamilton police crime investigation unit, said police believed the drugs were destined for street-level supply.
A 43-year-old Hamilton man was arrested and will be charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
"There was no evidence of him using the drug. Information about that property led to police obtaining a search warrant and the execution of that warrant," he said.
"Inquiries are ongoing into potential asset recovery involving a house undergoing renovations.
"It's something we are looking into in relation to his legitimate income and his expenditure. We'll look at his assets and how he funded obtaining those assets."
Detective Sergeant James said it was believed to be the biggest ice bust in Hamilton after 50 grams was found in a car mid last year.
He said anecdotal evidence suggested the wholesale price of crystal methylamphetamine had dropped while there was no indication demand had changed.

The seizure continues a hot streak for south-west police officers after Warrnambool-based police charged 25 people with drug trafficking in a six-week period from mid-year.
That led to reports that drug users were finding ice being difficult to source in Warrnambool.
Detective Senior Sergeant David Reither, who oversees south-west police detectives, said illicit drugs were a gateway to many other offences, such as burglary, thefts and home invasions.
"Our firm focus is to disrupt the distribution of illicit drugs to the community because of the enormous harm they cause," he said.
"Drug trafficking is a gateway offence.
"We have noticed that since so many arrests for trafficking that other offences, like burglaries and theft have noticeably dropped.
"We will continue to target recidivist offenders," he said.
Detective Senior Sergeant Reither said it was only with cooperation and information from the public that police members could do their jobs to the best of their ability.
"Anyone with information is requested to contact the Warrnambool police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
"We want to continue to create a hostile environment for those in the drug trade."
