Peter Stupple, 43, of Stanley Street, appeared in Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Monday where he made a self-represented bail application.
He told the court he moved to Warrnambool from Queensland in February and kept getting charged with "silly little" offences.
He was arrested about 2.30pm on Sunday after police received reports he was jumping fences in the Lava Street/Japan Street area and looking in backyards while heavily substance affected.
He was also allegedly spotted at the Coles Express service station where he is banned from attending as part of his bail conditions.
Mr Stupple told the court he was "stressed out" and looking for his daughter around town. He said he had knocked on one person's door to alert them of his search.
He denied visiting the Coles Express service station, stating that he was staying at the Mahogany Motel on Warrnambool's Raglan Parade, which was in close proximity.
Mr Stupple faces charges of breaching bail, a number of trespass offences and being a public nuisance.
Magistrate Franz Holzer said if Mr Stupple was refused bail, there was a real risk of him serving more time in custody on remand than he would ultimately be sentenced to.
The man was released on bail, with conditions he report to the Warrnambool police station three times per week, not leave the state of Victoria, abide by a 9pm to 6am curfew, not contact witnesses for the prosecution, not drive a motor vehicle and not use drugs.
