The Raewyn Poumako-coached Blues made it back-to-back Hampden league victories - after two losses to start the season - when they accounted for the Saints at Victoria Park on Saturday.

The Blues led at every change with their defensive pressure a catalyst in the 43-34 result. They were four goals at at three-quarter-time but stormed away in the last.

"We had a great last quarter. I think we had a bit of a flat third quarter and gave ourselves a bit of a pep talk and said 'we need to go out and everyone do their job, attack hard, defend hard and keep it simple'," Poumako said.

The second-year coach said Warrnambool wanted to see improvement each week as it settled with a new team, which includes returning trio Emma Cust (goal keeper), Kelsey Perry (wing defence) and Danielle Keilar (goal shooter).

"The support the girls give each other and the encouragement and back-up is great," she said.

"Our defensive pressure was fabulous through our mid-court, especially if there was a turnover in our attacking end...and Emma in the last quarter at goal keeper got about seven intercepts which were really valuable."

Perry, 23, played for Warrnambool as a junior and has slotted back into the Blues after time at Warrnambool and District league club Dennington and Mininera and District outfit Wickliffe-Lake Bolac.

She said she was "stoked" with the Blues' performance against the previously-undefeated Saints.

"The girls worked so hard today and it was a massive team effort and it just means a lot that we could knock off Koroit," Perry said.

"We went through our downs and our ups and pulled each other out of the downs and it was just great, everyone had each other's backs."
