Opening bowler Jason Mungean took 4-10 in the Bulls’ 123-run twenty20 inter-association grand final win against Hamilton at Uebergang Oval to earn man-of-the-match honours.
Mungean teamed with fellow stalwart Jason Greer (3-13) to dismantle Hamilton for 53.
Bulls captain Mark Murphy (56) and English import Andy McIntosh (46) were the keys with the bat, helping the Warrnambool and District Cricket Association club post 176 batting first.
Mungean said the Bulls would use their winnings to better their facilities.
“It is huge. It can do a lot. It can fix up the third net, fix up our other two nets or fix up the centre hard wicket,” he said.
“There’s numerous things we can do with it.”
Mungean played down his bowling heroics despite hurting his hamstring early on.
“To be honest, it was just run in and bowl at the stumps,” he said.
“I got a bit lucky, got a couple of edges and an LBW, you’ll take those in a final.”
The Bulls booked their Sungold Cup ticket after beating Woodford in the WDCA twenty20 grand final.
They knocked over Stonyford in Sunday’s semi-final with Nathan Murphy (50) and McIntosh (46) setting the tone.
Mark Murphy was proud of his charges’ commitment.
“To go through 10-plus games undefeated in twenty20 is a massive effort considering it’s such a touch-and-go game and it can be gone in the first five overs,” he said.
