Susan Malikoff, 17, competed in Melbourne on Tuesday where she delivered an impromptu speech on the pursuit of happiness and a prepared speech on the global garment industry.
Susan was expecting a high level of competition before the final and said the other speakers were excellent. “It was quite intimidating because everyone was really good and really knowledgeable,” she said.
Susan said she was excited and a bit surprised to win. “I was really really proud to have won and I guess to be able to represent regional Victoria,” Susan said.
She had four minutes to prepare the impromptu speech.
“It was quite an interesting topic. There’s a lot to talk about which is why they generally make them broad.”
Susan progresses to the state final at Melbourne’s Treasury Theatre on July 25.
