The Camperdown show on Saturday had strong horse entries, as well as entertaining the family crowd with its circus challenge, dog show and animals from Cudgee Creek Wildlife Park.
Show secretary Donna Edge said the committee was pleased with the show's place as the "season opener" .
"Geelong is next week and a lot of people bring their horses out for the first time to Camperdown as bit of a test run for the next few weeks," Ms Edge said.
"Our gate was on par to last year and with people quite busy in their school holidays it was a good turnout.
"We took over $8000 at the gate, which we're happy with. We're only a small committee but we work very hard to pull it off."
Ms Edge said the horse numbers and quality were excellent.
She said show-goers were fortunate the rain stayed away and the sun was out all day.
"It's the fourth show since our change of date and we've been so, so lucky with the weather each year," she said.
