After the devastating bushfires, residents are doing all they can to help each other.
On Tuesday Yvette Morton and Jenny Mirtschin were toasting wraps on a barbecue at the fire station, ahead of a community drop-in session.
A sign pinned to the wall of the station reads: “Welcome to Gazette – our shed helpers are here to smile, greet and say g’day; make you feel welcome; thank you; offer a listening ear; thank you again; ask how you are; and of course offer you food, drink, bathroom facilties and first aid. From the Wellness Warriors of Gazette.”
Ms Morton said the CFA volunteers had done an amazing job. She said that was the best thing about small communities – everyone was always ready to help.
“It’s the spirit of the community – we all help each other. This is our life,” Ms Mirtschin said.
