Prescott fired 76 off the stick to scoot past round one leader Caleb Perry.
He has fired 150 at the halfway mark of the four-round tournament to be one-shot clear of teenage talent Perry.
Perry shot a second-round 80.
Five players – Noah Best, Ashley Quick, Alistair Gillin, Marcus Rees and Will Mackenzie – sit in equal third three shots off the pace.
Defending champion Jarrod Fary is one-shot further back in fourth.
Club captain Colin Williams said Prescott’s second round was impressive.
“He played in the afternoon and had 76 off the stick which was exceptional in the wind,” he said.
“He is tidy around the greens and that’s where he makes his shots.”
Matt McNamara (159) leads B grade from Josh Lock (160).
Gary Wills (176) sits ahead of Craig Longmore (178) in C grade and Ricky Smedts (189) has a distinct advantage over Rory Campbell-Gavin (208) in D grade.
