Mahony wants Panmure to focus on building a big total against Yambuk on Saturday, with security on finals on offer if it can salute.
“Batting has let us down this year – our bowling usually takes care of itself but one of our top order batsmen really needs to get a 70 or 80 this week,” he said.
“We’ve been (to finals) and done that before and we know it doesn’t get any easier from here.
“We’ve won a premiership for fourth before so we just need to focus on getting there now.”
Mahony was wary of the threat posed by Yambuk – who secured a shock outright to all but end Wangoom’s finals aspirations last week.
“In the competition this year, anyone can beat anyone – it’s that tight,” he said.
“They’ve got some class players and they’ve beaten us before – they can definitely do it. We’ll be wary of them.
“We’re not looking too far ahead at the moment, we’ll make sure we play good cricket and see what happens.”
