The prolific run-scorer has accumulated 821 runs (Four 100’s, two 50’s) so far this season and his thoughts are kept clear of the personal milestone.
“I have thought about pushing Heytesbury to a grand final, I haven't really thought about my own stats, that sort of stuff just comes along as you go,” he said.
“We have Cobden this Saturday and a semi final next week and if we are lucky we could play in a grand final, so that's the way I'm thinking of it and not getting to far ahead of myself.
“I just stay away from it (the batting statistics), because if you start thinking about that you won't think about the game situation as much and that can sort of detract from what the team is trying to do.”
Harkness said that clichés such as ‘one week at a time’, were the only way to describe his approach to Saturday’s final one-day fixture.
“If we start thinking about next week’s semi final, you flirt with your form and we will take that form with us to the semi final,” he said.
“You want to get there tomorrow and see what that game brings, you never know whether you might be bowling first or we might be batting first, you just want to be in the moment at that game.”
The race for fourth spot will also be concluded in this match, with Cobden, who sit six points behind Pomborneit, needing to defeat the Rebels and hope that Terang are able to upset the fourth-placed Bulls.
