The fire was first reported at 1.23pm and was brought under control by 2.52pm, with 11 CFA vehicles and one helicopter fighting the the blaze.
Local earth-moving contractor Dion Webber was working across the road from the fire, eating his lunch, when he noticed the fire.
“I said ‘look, that’s not good, that bush is so dry,’” Mr Webber said.
He called triple 0, who were already on their way.
“In a very short time fire response crew were flooding into the scene,” Mr Webber said.
“The water bomber was awesome to see come down. It makes you feel more secure and safe to know we have that there, as it’s remote at this end of the coast.”
The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning also sent vehicles to fight the blaze and was the control agency.
More to come.
