Falk and Co sales consultant Graham Wombwell said the Camperdown market had been very strong in the past 12 months with a lot of interest from Melbourne, Geelong and Weribee.
He said a lot of the buyers were “tree changers” and people wanting to “get out of the big city.”
“We’re short on listings,” he said.
“Last year there was a very good clearance rate in Camperdown.”
The Camperdown-based agent said with the dual highway to Colac coming along and the Geelong bypass, the town had become a more attractive option for commuters.
“That’s going to knock some (travel) time off, you could get to Melbourne in a couple of hours,” he said.
“It’s also an attractive town to come into.”
Brian O’Halloran and Co director Brian Hancock said the Warrnambool housing market continued to move along steadily.
“Unlike Port Fairy where they’ve got a limited amount of stock, there’s new stock coming on everyday,” he said. “There’s ever revolving stock and it’s a bigger market.
“The market is going along fairly steadily at this stage.”
Mr O’Halloran said with population growth and demands Warrnambool was showing good signs generally.
“With all the new estates people can get a good block,” he said. Ludeman Real Estate director Mark Dwyer said at this time of year there was always a lot of interest.
“From a sales point of view the market is quite good,” he said. “It always has been a really steady market and that’s a good thing. You can rely on it each and every year.”
