SES Warrnambool unit controller Georgio Palmeri said three vehicles and an All Terrain Vehicle were dispatched after they were alerted to a rider who had fallen from his bike in a remote area east of Lake Gillear about 12.45pm.
The air ambulance was put on standby but by the time emergency crews arrived the rider had somehow made his way back to Lake Gillear.
Mr Palmeri said the rider, whose bike had fallen on him, was assessed by ambulance officers but did not need to be taken to hospital.
He advised riders not to go alone when riding off-road.
Mr Palmeri said crews had trouble locating the rider because they didn’t have an exact location.
