Cattle with European Union (EU) accreditation gained a premium from buyers of as much as 15-20c/kg, adding a boost to vendor accounts.
Landmark Casterton’s Rick Smith quoted steers at the heavy end - 360kg plus – as selling consistently at around 310 to 315c/kg but jumping to 325 to 330c/kg for EU accredited lines.
In the 280-360kg range, there was a solid floor at around 325-330c/kg while there was plenty of competition for lighter cattle at anything from 340-360c/kg.
Fifty Angus weighing 363kg offered by “The Gums” sold for 329c/kg to Landmark Casterton.
