COMMUNITY members are divided on the height of wind turbines at the Hawkesdale wind farm.
The state government has approved an application to increase the height to 180 metres for about 170 planned wind turbines.
A poll conducted by The Standard had 181 responses.
There were 101 people (or 56.35 per cent) who did not think they would be too tall, while 79 people (43.65 per cent were concerned about the height.
There were also mixed views on The Standard’s Facebook page.
“This is an amazing way to create much needed energy,” Lorraine Bell said.
“Better than a coal mine next door,” Erin Hockley said.
“Natural power and energy is fine if it is not in your back yard and not affecting the local community and wild life,” Charlie Webster said.
