Police said charges had been prepared and now that Chris Brown, 28, of Carpendeit, had been arrested in Melbourne those charges would be laid.
Warrants had been out for Mr Brown’s arrest and he was picked up in West Footscray last week.
Charges to be laid include intentionally cause injury, recklessly causing injury and associated offences.
He was also wanted in relation to serious driving offences.
December 17: A 28-YEAR-OLD Colac man ambushed at his back door and stabbed in the neck is recovering after undergoing surgery.
Detective Senior Constable Stuart Sims, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said the man went to his back door at 7.40am on Saturday where he was confronted by two men wearing face masks.
He was stabbed to the neck, soon after transported to Colac hospital and then flown to Melbourne's The Alfred Hospital where he underwent surgery.
The man is now in a stable condition.
Detective Senior Constable Sims said that as a result of inquiries a man and woman aged in their early 20s were arrested in the Cobden district and interviewed on Saturday night.
They have been released pending further inquiries.
Melbourne police detectives are expected to talk to the victim today and it's likely that information he can provide will be crucial to the investigation.
Detective Senior Constable Sims said that police had obtained security camera footage from a neighbour which showed a “four or five” people near the Lawrence Court house at the time of the stabbing.
"We are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with information about this very serious incident, to contact the Colac police station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000," he said.
