But that’s exactly what has been taking place at Warrnambool’s Fletcher Jones garden in the lead up to next week’s ‘Light up the Silver Ball’ event.
After three coats of paint and three weeks of attention the iconic landmark is set to shine on Wednesday when four LED projector lights begin their rotation of various colours on its facade.
Party-goers are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy live music, food vans and traditional ice-cream on the lawn while dressed in orange and silver to commemorate the ball’s half-century.
Festivities start at 7pm with the ball lit up at 9pm.
