The former Ballarat High School student, now 26, will take on the coveted Good Nights evening program on radio station Triple J.
She will showcase the best of new music, with a focus on Australian acts, from 6pm-9pm, Monday to Thursday, and 6pm-10pm on Friday.
It marks the culmination of five years of hard work rising through the ranks at the national broadcaster, which included a stint on the graveyard shift.
After filling in on the lunch show while colleague Veronica Milsom took maternity leave earlier this year, she will permanently take on the evening slot in 2018.

Despite her success, Miss Hustwaite said for her, radio presenting would always be about profiling Australia’s newest artists.
“Good music presenters don’t make it about them, it should always be about the music,” she said.
“I’m really excited to provide that exposure to bands and artists on such a huge platform like Good Nights.”
Miss Hustwaite grew up in Ballarat and Learmonth, before graduating from high school in 2008.
She is proud of her Ballarat roots, with her family and friends equally excited to hear her voice on Triple J.
The 26-year-old said friends thought it was the world’s coolest job, which was a sentiment she echoed.
“My friends get really excited when they jump into the car and hear me,” she said.
“What initially ignited my love for music was attending Ballarat High, where they really invest in the music department.
“There were always bands playing at school assemblies and my school mates HOWL/Hunting Grounds even won Triple J Unearthed High in 2009.”
Miss Hustwaite’s passion for music was clear, with a variety genres among her favourite artists.
From the Foals, to The Presets and The Paper Kites, she appreciates all kinds of music.
She said she was looking forward to celebrating music every night with the whole country.
“Sharing new music with people is such a passion of mine, it’s why I do radio and I am so honoured to be taking over a program like Good Nights,” she said.
