Sam Walsh, 28, said he feared he was going to die after a verbal argument with another driver turned into a bloody brawl that has left him with deeps scars on his right shoulder and left arm.
Mr Walsh said he and his girlfriend were driving in Cranbourne North on October 29 when a man in a four-wheel-drive sped past, cut in front, and slammed on his brakes.
"He did this three or four times to the point where we were at a standstill," Mr Walsh told Channel Seven. "I still don't know why he did that."
Mr Walsh said he was angered by the man's erratic driving and pulled over nearby to confront him.
A verbal argument between the two men escalated when the driver of the other car pulled out a knife.

"My reaction was just not to take my eyes off the knife," Mr Walsh said.
"I was running backwards but he's actually stuck the knife right into my shoulder and buried the blade in. I remember the moment of just pushing on my arm and thinking is there something going wrong and then just seeing blood squirt out my arm."
Mr Walsh's girlfriend Oshini Maddumaarachchi watched on in horror from the passenger seat of the car.
She jumped out of the vehicle when she heard Mr Walsh screaming in agony and found him lying on the side of the road in a pool of blood.
She said blood was pouring out of Mr Walsh's shoulder while the men continued to scuffle.
The accused man's 13-year-old son was in the car with his father and filmed the incident with his phone.
"His son was recording it.. this not something you should be proud of or happy about," she said.
Despite almost losing his life, Mr Walsh said he would do it again.
"I don't feel like I did the wrong thing confronting him and telling him that that was a unacceptable behaviour," he said.
A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was charged with intentionally causing injury and having a controlled weapon.
He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court at a later date.
