Our Ladies Help of Christians parish is hosting the Rose Show and Floral Art Weekend, which runs from Friday lunchtime to Sunday afternoon.
The three-day event, now in its eighteenth year, will include floral displays, a workshop, raffle and refreshments.
The parish’s neighbouring primary school is contributing over 350 class entries.
Event organiser Sue Smith said the occasion marked the end of the church year before Advent began.
“It’s a flower festival and a chance to prepare for Advent,” she said. “The children do an amazing job with their creations and the smell in the room when we first open the doors in the morning is just divine.”
This year’s theme is ‘Imagine if’ and students of all ages will be vying for top honours in the creative stakes.
Proceeds from raffle tickets sold at the event will go to St Vincent de Pauls.
