THE Melbourne to Warrnambool Cycling Classic won’t run in 2018 as Cycling Victoria moves to shore up the financial and competitive viability of the 122-year-old race.
It is likely to take part around April instead of its historic October timeslot as the result of a National Road Series reshuffle.
Cycling Victoria chief executive Paul Jane said the body was determined to draw more high-profile international cyclists to the event and to shore up its financial footing.
He said the race remained an integral part of Victoria’s racing calendar.
MORE TO COME.
