Multiple Grassmere Cricket Association premier Panmure is placing faith in its bowlers to execute the magic formula to lower Purnim’s colours on Saturday.
The Paddy Mahony-led Bulldogs posted 148 last week, but two early wickets to livewire bowler Nathan Shand meant Purnim was at 2-35 at stumps.
Mahony was confident the powerhouse club was in the box seat but said it was vital for his bowlers to step up.
“We’re pretty confident with the spot we’re in. We would have liked a few more than 150 but Purnim bowled well,” he said.
“It was good to get a couple of early wickets. We just want to keep it nice and tight and go on.”
The South Warrnambool footballer said Panmure had taken confidence from victories over both grand finalists over the first month of play.
“It’s been an ideal start for us. We only play eight games with this structure so you really want to be winning any game you can,” Mahony said.
“We’re really happy with how we’re going right now across the board.”
