The Australian number one will hit the Premier Speedway track as he strives to defend his Jack Willsher Cup crown on Saturday night.
Williams, who turns 30 next week, said he enjoyed testing himself on the Victorian circuit.
“It’s always tough in Victoria,” he said.
“Jack Bell and Chris Bellman are the two main guys at the moment.”
Williams, who has family ties to Warrnambool and holidayed in the seaside town as a child, said he was pleased with his start to the 2017-18 formula 500 season.
He’s lived in Queensland for two and a half years.
“We have had five races for two wash outs and three wins so far,” he said. “It’s really getting strong (up here in Queensland now). There’s 20 to 25 cars every race now and five or six can win.”
The Jack Willsher Cup will have a strong south-west presence with Bell, Chris Bellman, Dion Bellman, Leigh Van Ginneken and Jake Hose among the field.
