Troy Andrew Goldsworthy, 26, of The Parade, pleaded guilty in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court to drug impaired driving and two charges of driving without an alcohol interlock device.
He was banned from driving for six months.
Magistrate Cynthia Toose said it was aggravating that Goldsworthy had been caught twice driving without an alcohol interlock device.
She said Goldsworthy was on the cusp of further imprisonment and he had significant prior offences including for drink driving and driving while disqualified.
“You have a cavalier attitude to road rules and obeying them,” she said.
“This is your last opportunity to avoid jail. You very nearly went to jail today,” she said.
An automatic licence recognition device snapped Goldsworthy driving a red Holden sedan at 11.10am on January 17 near the Warrnambool Homemaker Centre.
A check revealed the car did not have an interlock device as Goldsworthy's licence required.
Goldsworthy was caught driving the same car in Terang 11 days later and in addition to not having an interlock device he tested positive to driving under the influence of meth amphetamine.
Defence counsel Jessica Tinetti said her client suffered anxiety and depression and had previously been involved in ice and taking GHB when he separated from his partner.
He is now not taking drugs, has moved back in with his family and started a vehicle detailing business.
