Detective Senior Constable Matt Roberts, of the Colac police crime investigation unit, said the white Kia Cerato and a silver Mitsubishi Outlander were located in a laneway near Moore Street in north Colac.
“The cars were fortunately not damage, just dumped,” he said.
“Forensic tests have been conducted on the vehicles and investigations are continuing.
“They were left together, clearly more than one person was involved. They could have been used for a joyride and there’s no indication they were used for any other purpose,” he said.
Anyone with information about the stolen vehicles is requested to contact the Colac police station of Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Monday: COLAC police are on the look out for two stolen cars and a missing pet greyhound after keys were stolen from a home overnight.
Sergeant Tim Kerrison said offenders entered a home near the intersection of Eureka and Hewitt streets in east Colac some time overnight.
He said the keys to two vehicles were taken as well as a "very friendly" greyhound.
The cars and dog were reported missing early Monday morning.
The stolen cars are a white Kia Cerato with the registration number plate of 1AP-6PN and a silver Mitsubishi Outlander registration LOW-427.
"Offenders entered the property took the keys to two vehicles and drove off in the vehicles. The family dog is also missing and family members say it would not have wandered off," he said.
"This same sort of offending has been repeated up and down the surf coast. People need to be aware to make sure their homes are locked and secured," he said.
