The 25-year-old has been selected to represent Victoria as a wild card entrant in the National Indigenous Model Search.
She heads to Sydney in January to compete, and says modelling has helped boost her self-confidence.
“Within the last year I have really got into modelling,” she said.
“It’s something completely different to what I am used to.”
Ms Hamilton said the winner of the competition would represent Australia at Paris Fashion Week.
At the national event she will go through health and fitness classes and interview sessions with television and print media outlets.
Ms Hamilton has set up a Go Fund Me crowdfunding page to raise money to get her to Sydney.
It can be found by searching ‘Nikki Hamilton’ on the Go Fund Me website.
“I am asking anyone who could help to donate,” the chef and beauty therapist said.
