The Allansford-raised teenager added his photo to South Warrnambool’s honour board on Friday night.
McCluggage joins the likes of Brownlow Medallist Colin Watson, St Kilda premiership hero Kevin ‘Cowboy’ Neale, North Melbourne premiership player Wayne Schwass, current-day Greater Western Sydney coach Leon Cameron and triple Brisbane premiership forward Jonathan Brown as players to start their careers at the Hampden league club.
McCluggage, who was taken at pick three in the 2016 AFL draft, played 18 matches for the Lions in his debut season. He earned a rising star nomination.
