And while she’s still running around for South Warrnambool, Renee Saulitis’ future could yet be as bright.

The rising star claimed a best-on-ground medal in the Western Bulldogs Next Generation Academy’s final game of the V/Line Cup tournament on Thursday, capping a stellar season.

“She’s a 15-year-old Pendlebury,” Drew said.

“She doesn’t panic, and time and space just opens up around her when she has the ball.

“You could almost run out of superlatives to describe her with.”

Drew said while Saulitis was below her best in the first game of the carnival, she demonstrated glimpses of her ability in the second and final match of the week.

“She was probably a little quieter in the first, below herself – only because we know what she’s capable of,” she said.

“But she’s all class. We put her out there for her the second game and she was just in all the right places.

Saulitis and Drew’s side won both of their matches at the carnival. Drew said the team performed “above expectations”.

“They did a lot better than we thought,” she said.
