The premiership coach clinched the Warrnambool and District netball A Reserve best-and-fairest on Wednesday night, showing no signs of on-court rust after two seasons on the sidelines.
“Because I’d always played A grade, I felt myself losing touch with that higher level of competition,” Carter said.
“I’ve really enjoyed coming back to A reserve. It’s a bit more my speed.
“Everybody wants to win, and it’s very competitive, but it’s not quite as fast, and the quarters aren’t quite as long.”
Nirranda’s Claudia Dean took out the league’s B grade best-and-fairest by just one vote, overtaking Old Collegians’ Sarah Van Kempen in the final round.
“I had a lot of school friends out there, and a few of my family members played football out there,” she said.
“I knew it was a good environment so I thought I’d give it a crack. “They’re such a great bunch of girls and I’ve loved it.”
