The Cobden export will miss the Dockers’ final-round clash with Essendon after accepting a one-game suspension for striking Richmond’s Nick Vlaustin.
Darcy’s eight-game tally means he will remain eligible for the AFL rising star award in 2018.
Turner, who worked with the South Purrumbete talent during his two years in the TAC Cup system, said the 201-centimetre, 111-kilogram teenager had proven a draft bargain for the Dockers.
“He has surprised me – I thought he’d take a couple of years,” he said.
“He is playing against seasoned ruckmen with seven or eight pre-seasons and who have been pumping weights for 10 years, so do what he’s done with one pre-season means he’s only going to get better and bigger, stronger and fitter. He has a bright career ahead of him.”
Darcy, who has committed to Fremantle until the end of 2019, averaged 34 hitouts for the Dockers, including a season-high 45 against the Tigers. He stormed on to the scene with 40 hitouts on debut against Geelong in round 14.
