In November last year, James Guy took his own life amid the fallout of the dairy crisis that saw milk prices plummet and many farmers dealing with a clawback clause.
Mrs Guy and her family have thrown their support behind a crowdfunding campaign by farmer advocacy group Farmer Power.
Mrs Guy said she believed it was something her late husband would have backed as well.
“We were involved in a rally fighting for a better deal for dairy farmers going back 12 years,” Mrs Guy said.
“James was a dairy farmer for 40 years, he was so passionate about it, for him it was much more than just a job.
“Farmer Power is trying to bring dairy farmers together, which is difficult because everyone is busy with day-to-day stuff.
“But the only way we can put pressure on governments and milk processors is through being united.
“Dairy farmers have been abandoned by government and milk processors, it’s very sad.”
In a letter on the Farmer Power website penned by Mrs Guy’s daughter, Courtney, the effect of the dairy crisis on families was laid bare.
“Some families couldn’t even afford to put food on their tables,” Ms Guy wrote.
“Cutbacks on farm gate prices, increased financial pressures, farmers with million-dollar debts hanging over their heads who are already struggling to make ends meet.
“Imagine being in that position, not being able to feed your own children, let alone your animals.
“We need politicians, the people that can make change happen, to back our farmers.”
The only way we can put pressure on governments and milk processors is through being united.

Farmer Power executive officer Garry Kerr said the aim of the crowdfunding campaign was to gather funds to raise public awareness of what was happening in the dairy industry and the effect it was having on farmers and their families.
