A WANTED man alleged to have committed a burglary at Port Fairy and a home invasion at Warrnambool at the weekend has been remanded in custody.
Jade Kahukura, 33, previously of Horsham, was arrested by police in Melbourne on Tuesday morning.
Horsham detectives then interviewed and charged him with 49 offences and Mr Kahukura has been remanded in custody.
There will be a filing hearing next Monday and it is expected the extensive case will progress through the county court.
Some of the charges relate to a burglary at Port Fairy and home invasion at Warrnambool's Lava Street at the weekend.
Police allege Mr Kahukura entered a Lava Street home, a wallet was removed and that he used a bank card from the wallet at a Warrnambool business.
Last week police issued a whereabout alert for Mr Kahukura over a range of allegations, including theft of vehicles, assaults, drugs and offences of dishonesty.
Police believed he was staying in the Hamilton district but he was also known to frequent Horsham and Birchip districts and there had been reports of sightings in Coleraine during recent weeks.
