Hampden league punters expect Port Fairy to win its second senior flag – and end a 59-year drought in the process.
The Seagulls attracted 39 per cent of the vote in The Standard’s mid-season report card poll question ‘who will win the premiership?’.
They received 128 of the 329 votes cast.
Koroit, chasing a fourth straight premiership, was next best with 97 votes. Emerging outfit South Warrnambool collected 54 votes.
Port Fairy ruckman Sandy Robinson was considered by fans to be the recruit of the year, having received 72 of a possible 259 votes.
South Warrnambool’s James Hussey (61 votes) and Port Fairy’s Matt Sully (60) rounded out the top three. Former AFL-listed midfielder Josh Saunders was considered the player whose injury has most hurt their side. The ex-St Kilda player polled 70 of a possible 259 votes. Warrnambool’s Sam Cowling (54) and Koroit’s Isaac Templeton (36) also recieved their share of the votes.
