Site and logistics manager Glenn Scott said construction of the venue was always a massive job, and this year posed new challenges.
“This year we are building the biggest sandpit we have ever built for the Sungold Pirate Cove,” Mr Scott said.
It is one of the festival’s 15 themed zones where children can tackle a pirate-themed obstacle course and dig for treasure. Entertainment this year includes Jimmy Giggle, Trolls, Paw Patrol, Frank Woodley, Captain Festus McBoyle’s Travelling Variety Show, Melbourne City Ballet and comedian Josh Earl.
The festival runs from July 5 to July 9.
